Abbreviated Agenda for 2006-2007:
Over the summer, the Academic Affairs Committee helped shepherd changes to ACES, explored changes in conference travel
funding at Duke, and began working with Bostock library to secure undergraduate carrel space for research and senior
thesis projects.
Recently, the Academic Affairs Committee has been working on a proposal for changes to the drop/add period, in order to
increase student options while choosing courses. We are also working on creating a new series of teacher awards,
designed to highlight the work of faculty who impact the lives of undergraduates. We will be working closely with the
Academic Integrity Council in the near future, serving as a student voice in deliberations about potential changes to
academic integrity and judicial policies. In the future, we hope to begin examining the experience of Duke's
undergraduate women in science, to see if there are any areas, mentorship or research support, for instance, in need of
improvement.
